Hello! Welcome to my blog. Please read the additional information regarding our subject (BASIC COMPUTER-1). God Bless! Don't forget to leave your comments. It is a must.
-Ma'am Jhenny
You can see nowadays that children mostly use internet instead of using books. It is just like we are slaves of Internet. You, as a student, do you think it is also one of your basic needs?
Good day Ma'am Jhenny! This blog is creative, interesting, and very informative. I have a few questions. What has been the worst effect of a virus to a computer? And what is the best anti-virus that you have tried so far? Thank you in advanced. More power to you and this blog. Have a nice day ahead! :)
Hello Ms. Cristel! :) Thank you. Here are the answers to your questions.
Harmful effects of computer virus: -Computer virus can slow down your computer. -Might corrupt your system files. -Might make some programs faulty or corrupt. -Might damage your boot sector creating problems when you boot into the windows. -Might steal important information from your computer and send to some other person. -Might change the power ratings of your computer and could blast the system. -Viruses hides the files -Disrupting the operation on your computer and it infects -Some can wipe out the information on a hard drive -Tie up traffic on a computer network for hours -Turn an innocent machine into a zombie and replicate and send themselves to other computers Its effects could be just plain, annoying or extremely malicious
The best anti-virus I tried so far is the AVG antivirus but the free edition only provides the core antivirus and web protection basics.
Hello Mr. Jun! So you have a computer with a software installed, but you’re not sure if you are running a genuine version of the OS. You may have this issue if you downloaded a copy of Windows 7 or if someone installed it for you.
In windows, Either way, there are a couple of different ways to check and make sure that your Windows 7 copy is genuine.
Method 1 – Activate Windows Dialog The first way to validate that Windows 7 is genuine is to click on Start, then type in activate windows in the search box. If your copy of Windows 7 is activated and genuine, you will get a message that says “Activation was successful” and you will see the Microsoft Genuine software logo on the right hand side.
Method 2 – Validate Online The second way to determine if you have a valid copy of Windows 7 is to use the validation tool on the Microsoft website. If you ever tried to download updates from Microsoft, you’ve probably noticed that sometimes your copy of Windows has to be validated before it allows you to start the download.
Well, you can use that tool independently of downloading an update by going to the following address: http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/validate
Then click on the Validate link at the top. Make sure that you visit the site while in Internet Explorer, otherwise it will ask you do download a small program onto your computer in order to validate.
Method 3 – Control Panel The third way to check for genuine Windows 7 is to go to the Control Panel. Click on Start, thenControl Panel, then click on System and Security, and finally click on System. Then scroll all the way down to the bottom and you should see a section called Windows activation, which says “Windows is activated” and gives you the Product ID. It also includes the genuine Microsoft software logo.
Good question Ms. Daisy! The first ever computer virus was developed in 1986 by two Pakistani brothers in Lahore Pakistan. The first computer virus named "Brain" was designed by Amjad Farooq Alvi and Basit Farooq Alvi with the intention of determining the piracy of a software written by them.
Hello mam goodevening. How can i know if my computer have any virus if i have no antivirus in my PC? Is it possible to detect or notice if there is any virus on my PC?
Hello Karl! Good question. Basically you will notice that there is something wrong with your computer. You can see that there are unusual .exe file. There are also unusual operations that are happening. It can slow down or disrupt the common process. Maybe it is possible to detect the virus without the antivirus because there is instances that computer will show a dialog box in the taskbar saying that there are operations that are not working because something is stopping them. The problem with this is that they can tell the specific virus attacking your PC.
Hello Jose! Nice point! Last time we discussed about the dos and don'ts when using a computer. You can relate our topic here. When downloading an anti-virus, make sure that you check the feedback of customers first then check the compatibility of the software to your computer. When you download in the internet it is possible that there are viruses attached to that file that can cause harm to your computer. The most common is Trojan Horse so make sure that the site you are downloading is virus free. Most Anti-virus you can install varies to Operating System that you are using but the usual OS that we are using is windows so you can search for windows anti-virus then if you are using mac, you can search for mac anti-virus.
Hello Jose! Glad you ask that question. Basically, you can notice if you are infected by a virus if the anti-virus you are using shows a message at the right bottom corner of your computer saying that there are viruses attacking your PC. You can fix it by scanning then after that click the CLEAN option. Make sure that you have updated anti-virus.
Hello Aldous! Computer Viruses are harmful software programs written to intentionally enter a computer without user’s permission or knowledge while the malware or Malicious-Software are software used to disrupt computer operation, gather sensitive information or access private computers without the knowledge or permission of the computer users. It has 5 categories which are the Macro Viruses, Worms, Trojan Horses, Spyware and Adware
Hello Ben Joseph! Windows malware on your smartphone
Many smartphones can be connected to your PC and laptop. When they are, your smartphone appears as if it were a USB-connected disk drive. You may have been even treating your smartphone as if it were a thumb drive. If this is the case, then it might be a different story, particularly if you have an infected file or program. If Windows malware is on the smartphone, you plug it into your computer, and autorun is running, the Windows-based malware could start running and infect your machine. If you’re using your smartphone to carry software from one place to another, there’s nothing special about the smartphone that would inoculate you from malware. It’s still going to have the virus. In that sense, the smartphone can certainly still carry viruses.
In vice versa, Your computer is safe from any virus using the phone's operating system. But if you are using your smartphone as a USB device... that's another story. If you have smartphone-malware on your smartphone, it’s not going to impact Windows. Smartphones run a completely different, incompatible operating system than Windows, in the form of Android, iOS or others. Even if the malware could run, it would fail miserably.
Hello Keven! Why Do People Create Computer Viruses? An infinite series of viruses found over the net are designed for different objectives, some of these objectives are listed below:
- To gain control of or hack a computer and use it for specific tasks
- To generate money by using such malware as a cash machine
- To steal sensitive information (credit card numbers, passwords, personal details, data, etc.)
- To prove that they are capable of writing a virus
- For Revenge against a company
- To cripple a computer or network
Viruses usually gain access to the victim's computer following an accidental download by the computer user who is ignorant about the source of the program, such as a file sent from an instant messenger friend or email attachment.

Hello John Paul! The best thing to do is to install an antivirus and update it regularly to detect and prevent viruses. If the virus is not removed, the last option you will have to do is to reformat the PC to stop the spreading of viruses. If you did not do this, your PC will eventually loose its capability to use.
Hello Jueles! Please check again your question. They are not important because they cause harm and irritation to the people. But let see the good side of adware. It may help the author to increase visitor for his or her site. It can also benefit the user. Maybe the ad is what he or she looking for so long.

Well, I can recommend to you the ESET antivirus, AVG antivirus and COMODO antivirus.
Hello Ann! Using a multiple anti-virus programs is a bad idea. Here are the reason why.
1.They will try to kill each other. Because antivirus programs search your system for programs that are monitoring and sending information about your system, a competing antivirus program that is monitoring and sending information about your system tends to look like a virus, so it will attempt to block it and remove it. A competing antivirus program that is monitoring and sending information about your system tends to look like a virus.
2.They will fight over viruses. When an antivirus program encounters a virus, it removes it and quarantines it. But if a competing antivirus program sees that quarantined file and wants to remove and quarantine it in accordance with its own objectives, then it will repeatedly send reports and notifications about this virus that it is detecting, even though it is no longer actually a threat to your system. If you don’t want to continually get bogus warning messages, this will be a problem for you.
3. They will sap your power. Antivirus programs use a lot of your system memory to conduct system scans and other related operations. If you have two of these operating simultaneously, your system’s effectiveness can be greatly diminished or completely wiped out altogether, and without any benefit, since the two are performing redundant operations. When it comes to protecting your computer, more protection is not better. Take some time to do the research and choose one comprehensive antivirus suite that has been independently tested to combat the latest known malware programs and that will singlehandedly arm your system to the teeth to protect it against every type of threat.
So all in all, You don’t need to install more than one antivirus program. In fact, running more than one antivirus program at the same time can cause conflicts and errors that make your antivirus protection less effective or not effective at all.
Hello Fermin! Yes, it is possible. You can usually get it from downloading in the internet and from the flashdrive you are using. The typical viruses that can attacked at the same time are worms and trojan horses.
