TIPS: Virus Prevention

  • Installing anti-virus software on your computer.
A good antivirus system will scan your machine regularly to clean it from any infected files.

  • Update your anti-virus software regularly.
NOTE: It is advised NOT to connect to the Internet without AV protection

  • WHEN IN DOUBT, THROW IT OUT!
Always use caution and do not open, download, or execute any suspicious files or email attachments.

Do not open any files attached to an email

- from an unknown, suspicious or untrustworthy source.

- ending with: .exe, .com, .src, .plf, .vbs

- That you were not expecting to receive

- Unless you know what is, even if appears to come from a friend or someone you know

  • Delete chain emails and junk mail.
Do not forward or reply to any to them. These types of emails are considered spam, which is unsolicited, intrusive mail that clogs up the network.

  • Use caution when downloading files from the Internet.
Ensure that the source is a legitimate and reputable one. Verify that an anti-virus program checks the files on the download site. If you are uncertain, do not download file at all.

  1. I've already installed an antivirus application on my laptop but I don't think it really helps removing/avoiding viruses. How will I know if I have the best antivirus program? Do you have any recommendations for me? Thanks in advance!

    1. Hi hannah! To know the best antivirus as of 2016, please go in my another post: http://basicstalk.blogspot.com/2016/07/best-antivirus-2016-10-antivirus.html

Even if you have the best antivirus of all times but you are not always updating it and you are using only the FREE, you can not use all the feature which that anti virus has. In this case, you need to pay to use the PREMIUM antivirus for the 100% protection.

  3. What is the cure for A-H1N1 Virus? How about cold? is there a cure?
Can the virus be transmitted? How?
Can the antivirus permanently delete the virus? Does it mean that the virus will not be there after you terminate it? What if there is a new virus that is actually the same as the first one.
Does it mean that my computer will be safe from virus if there is no internet connection and there is no external source connected to it?

    1. Hello Mr. Aljun!
Sometimes we have to accept things that has no cure anymore. But as a responsible human being, we can reduce the spreading of these said viruses...

Yes. Definitely the virus can be transmitted. Virus can infect files in just a second. Computer viruses usually spread in one of three ways: from removable media; from downloads off the Internet; and from e-mail attachments.
A computer virus is small piece of code usually hidden inside another computer program. It is also referred to as a malware program or a malicious program because it is capable of partly or entirely disrupting a computer’s operations.

Sad to say, not all anti-virus can detect viruses unless you are paying for PREMIUM. Sometimes, anti-virus just hides that causes damages to your computer. When you are using FREE anti-virus, it will just do least possible removal of viruses while in premium, you can expect 100% protection. Just keep on updating the anti-virus software you have.
If there is no internet connection, the spreading of viruses will be minimal but if you have either the free or PREMIUM anti-virus software, you will be not able to update it regularly which will results to enormous damage to your computer.
